rodičovská/ Parental Benefit

Hello,

I am an Expat working in Brno for past 3 years.
I am planning on giving birth in Germany , as my partner stays in Germany.
After 4 months after the birth of the baby, me and the baby will be returning to Czech Republic.

My employer and I , have agreed on 1 year of Parental leave.
Am I still allowed to apply for Parental allowance in Czech republic ?

Good afternoon,
you did not mention whether you are an EU citizen or a citizen of a non-EU country. If you are an EU citizen and will live in the Czech Republic with your child and have permanent employment here, you should apply for parental allowance in the Czech Republic. If you are a foreigner from a country outside the EU, you and the child must have both actual residence and permanent residence in the Czech Republic or meet criteria for an exception from permanent residence pursuant to § 3 sect. 2) of the Law on State Social Support (Zákon o státní sociální podpoře). Where the child's father lives and works will also be assessed. For more information in your specific situation, you can contact the Employment Office (Úřad práce).
