Just one interesting thing.I found out that americans don't have exact word for "POROD".It was so hard.We tried to find out something that we can use in conversation, when we talked about that day( when I was pregnant) It can not be delivery, because only DOCTOR will deliver your baby, not you.You can say "I will give birth" but that is realy long - don't you think?!:)Child birth was strange too. They also won't say birth day - because that means "narozeniny". So finally in the end we found as the best to use "labor" and we using that all the time now.Everyone understands what that means even when you can not find it in dictionary. Crazy!
In UK "Porod" means DELIVERY. Here in Czech they have looked at that word DELIVERY very strange. "Delivery? How delivery?"
@ivana82 Yes.In USA, only doctor can say that he has delivery. That means he is going to work (porodit dite z maminky):)))
@janney The translation in Czech sounds very weird. Way by way "porodit" is also weird if you think about this verb more.
Janney, can you tell us something about USA? Are you working there?
@Jasmine I am back in Prague now.I spent 15 months there sincce June 2006.Working and traveling....:)My Terry is back in San Francisco and working in a new job.
That´s interesting. Everything around Americans is crazy, I think - their language, their customs, their religion...For example I talked to one American and he didnť know what does it mean "pub" I had to describe him, what do you do do there and after that he sayed: Oh yes, you mean "a club"...
@ It dependes on where they are from in USA.I foud such a huge difference. It is realy big country and have a lot of country style - people from small cities and villages. Even they can see different accent and slang between people from east and west. People from big cities know more and people I knew used word pub all the time :)
@ You are right, many things about americans are stange for us. I meet a americans guys, they doesn´t know where is Europa. But i´m intereseing about this country, so i hope i see it in future. Some of my frends are living there, Atlanta,Portland.
@Jasmine This is also truth.I generally hated americans when I came there.I thought they are stupid. But it is like everywhere. You find groups of smart and funny people and a lot of "rednex" people that they don't know that London and England are kind of same place.:-).Fortunately Terry is from that people who traveled a lot and he has two colleges too.He lived few months in Barcelona an Roma and Australia. He was once in Prague and also in other places in Europe as Austria,England,... And I can tell he has a European "aura". so I can love him.I wouldn't be able to love any real "american" hi hi :)
