I'd like to ask you, if you have any experience with multilingual families. I live with my husband in the Czech republic, although none of us is of czech nationality. My nationality is hungarian, but i grew up in Slovakia (Czechoslovakia), so I haven't got a problem with czech language. My husband is Egyptian, so his native language is arabic. We communicate together in english.I'm expecting our first baby, so the thought that entertains me most at the moment is how will I talk to my baby. Do you know any kids that had to cope with three languages at the same time?
OK - she was in different part of this diskusion. Her nick name is Danuskita.Lives in Spain. She is czech,Her husbant from Katalanska
@janney I think 4 languages will be really too much for a child, so I'm planning to leave out the hungarian. Althouh I haven't got problems with czech, my grammar is not 100%, so I think I will leave this to others and the school. My husband will sure talk to him arabic and english will be left for me :-)

Hi We have just two languages, english and czech. It is best to talk to your baby - each of you in your national language. That one which you feel is your original.Than the kid will pick up the third language with no problem too.Exspecialy if you live in CR I would expect no problems with czech and english later on.It is up to you how much you want to teach him arabic and hungrian language. So e are actually talking about 4 languages.I amsorry for my english - I am gettin tired little bit. In aconversation below, ther is a girl who has to deal with three lang. too, but they dob't have the baby yet
