Viola - being funny

We went for a rides ( kolotoce) as a family and when we were leaving, Viola insisted that she needs to go to the bathroom. There were only these plastic toilets ( we know them as a toi toi).Terry took her there and it was really messy - you know how you can see everything that people left there before. He cleaned the seat as much as he could, covered the seat with lots of toilet paper and Viola peed. She didn\'t really like the mess. When she finished she seriously and with worried face asked Terry: \"Daddy,did I just pee on garbage?!\"Terry couldn\'t help and had to answer: \"Yes you did sweetheart\"

tea

When I first came to USA, I had no idea about how they call different types of tea.But I assumed that I can just translate whatever we say in Czech.Well, when i ordered a fruit tea, they stared at me and looked really confused.Couple weeks after that I finally got it.They have just 2 types of tea - black tea and herbal tea.Any tea without caffeine is herbal tea - even our great \"ovocny caj\"

Twilight

I´m just reading those books in English - and I have to admitt that they are even more thrilling and exciting than in Czech. I was afraid that I wouldn´t enjoy the reading very much as I saw the films first and then read the Czech versions. I was absolutely mistaken. The Enlish version has totally caught me. I can´t stop reading. And actually - I´m crying a lot more now :))) I highly recommend to those who like love stories and can stand fantasy books.I was wondering myself, why I like this story so much. And finally I come to it - it´s because is all about LOVE. I don´t believe in vampires or werewolves, but I DO believe in love very much and that is probably the reason why this story is so catchy for me. Sorry for writing so long comment but I had to share this :))

Couple of jokes - no - real life ;)

WordsA husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day. 30,000 to a man\'s 15,000. The wife replied, \'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men... The husband then turned to his wife and asked, \'What?\'WHO DOES WHAT A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, \'You should do it because you get up first, and then we don\'t have to wait as long to get our coffee. The husband said, \'You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.\' Wife replies, \'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.\' Husband replies, \'I can\'t believe that, show me.\'So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says .... \'HEBREWS\'

look for a friend, English native speaker preferred

Dear mums and dads,I am looking for a friend to spend an afternoon together from time to time. I am a Czech mum with two little boys (3 and 1,5 years old), we live in a village near Sternberk (c. 20 km from Olomouc). I work as a freelance translator so I can say my English is not so bad but a sort of \"text-book English\". Most of the time I spend with my little ones, evenings are usually devoted to my husband or translation jobs. I need someone else to speak with in person! If you´re interested feel free to contact me. E-mail marketa.jirickova@email.cz, telephone 608 614 059. Regards and thanks, Marketa

something for good temper

A woman buys a new wardrobe and the department store sends a serviceman with it to put it together. The serviceman is ready, but just at this moment a tram passes the house and the wardrobe breaks down. The serviceman begins to put the wardrobe together for the second time, but the situation with the tram happens again. As he can´t see any mistake outside, he decides to enter the wardrobe and wait for the next tram to see what is happening. While he is inside, the husband comes home and sees the new wardrobe. He opens it - and there is the man. \"What are you doing here?\" the husband asks. \" I´m sure you will not believe me. I´m waiting for a tram\", the serviceman answers.

who cam speak English better than me.Kámoška mě totiž napsala jako svoji referenční osobu do životopisu. A teď mi budou zřejmě volat a ptát se na ni a bohužel anglicky. No a já anglicky nemluvila for ages. Prosím, pomožte mi vymyslet nějakou chválu, ať je to hezké a není to umělé. Protože říkat jim, že kámoška je hard-working a team player mi přijde jako trapárna.P.S. Who or What is Spongebob? viz Janney\'s text.

How would you translate this word in the best way? :)One of kids stories in TV has name Handy MannyBtw. it is little bit funny, but when Vio is watching cartoons ( animovane pohadky) in the morning - it sometimes feels like I am learning more of it than she is.They explain the meaning of words in one of this stories and I found it very helpful. When I repeat some sounds of the letter, Viola is looking at me really strange.Like mommy are you all OK?!?

New, funy and little scary.I didn\'t know if he doesn\'t have right to be angry at first, but he just tried to look brave and strong, propably

today\'s word(s)???

Guys I can not make this anymore. I hear much more than just one new english word every day. But than when I am trying to think of one I could write down for You - I can not remember any of them...that propably means I didn\'t learn any new words. Why is it so hard to remember???I have kind of \"case\" in my brain where are words that I am using. It is pretty hard to let some new word in. I can learn it, but I have to make sure, people around me are really using it or I am shy to say that loud.So the case of word I understand getting bigger, but the case with words, that I am able to say seems to have still the same size

Hello,

I am the first time. My English is very bad. I don´t know I am writing good, whether.

multilingual family

I'd like to ask you, if you have any experience with multilingual families. I live with my husband in the Czech republic, although none of us is of czech nationality. My nationality is hungarian, but i grew up in Slovakia (Czechoslovakia), so I haven't got a problem with czech language. My husband is Egyptian, so his native language is arabic. We communicate together in english.I'm expecting our first baby, so the thought that entertains me most at the moment is how will I talk to my baby. Do you know any kids that had to cope with three languages at the same time?

I hadn't visite this part for a long time.My brain is being confused by so many new words that I hear all the time. But usually I understand the point of the talking and almost all words.Problem is with "black people"...I have no idea what the hell are they talking aboutMovies are another of my enemy.I believe that the best possible acting is the least possible to understand

"In America, anyone can become a president - that´s the risk you take." (I have no idea, where I have heard this, just remembered now)

bilingual baby

Hi, we are expecting baby in a few months and my 'love' is english. Is here anyone who has experience with bilingual families? I read some collums about it but life experience could be a bit differente....
