You can check your knowledges and help to poor people. If you know the vocabularies, you collect rice and the company will send it to poor people.

      RE: English and children
Hi, I am trying to teach my older son. But we are too busy now. At the begining I only tried to talk to him in Egnlish - he hated it - he usually cried: Mum, don´t do it! And was really angry. After half a year, he started to listen to me when I was talking English.
In short - I try to talk English while doing usuall things - children can understand it if they want to.
And I plan to teach my son - really - but I will make my own exercises and only fill it with some picture books for children.

  • Men are four ...
He who knows not & knows not he knows not. He is a fool, shun him.
He who knows not & knows he knows not. He is simple, teach him.
He who knows & knows not he knows. He is asleep, wake him.
He who knows & knows he knows. He is wise, follow him.

      RE: Book
I´ve read many books in English and I think it is always worth it. I really enjoyed the books about Harry Potter (as I like the story   ), I liked "The picture of Dorian Grey" from Oscar Wild and if you like adventurous books I recommend "The adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from Mark Twain - it is very readable.   Let us know which book you choose.

Ujjj book in english. I have tried 2 times. In the beginning is boring, because you coudln't look down for any words, but after a few pages is good. I have never finished books because my patience is of low level.

I can give you a special book  it was written by Danielle Steel, yes, I can see it clearly, how you are laughing, so Danielle Steel - The House - a very special interesting title, it´s a paperback, little bit long but I think, it is quiet good reading if you don´t notice the story  I got it last year from my friend (English teacher) to practice reading in English. If you want, I will give you it for free at our meeting in Prague next week

Hi, it is really good. Try some fairy tales - there is used simple language. Ex. Charlie and the chocolate factory is very nice and a little bit more difficult for understanding - there are many new vocabularies.

      RE: Book
Hello! Have you already got the book in English or not yet? I love to speak English (not many oportunities now :-(), therefore I try to read, at least. If I could recommend I would go for something written by Nick Hornby. The best of his novels is 'What about a boy' (the movie with Hugh Grand is called Jak na vec in Czech). His English is pretty easy, beuatiful and great for practising. He uses a lot phrasal verbs, idioms, just the way people really talk (british English) . And it is funny, on the top (more funny than the movie made based on the book) :-) So, if you see it, go for it!

I have read The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Ernest Hemingway had specific style, he wrote sipmle sentences and that is why the story is good to understand.

  • Great idea!
This discusion in english is great idea! I know my english is horrible, I have to improve my knowledges. And this is big opportunity to use english. I think language practise is more useful than blind learning words.
Before my child´s born I promised myself that every day I would learn english. My son is 6 month old, and I have never opened any english book.
I´m sorry for my mistakes, I try not to use vocabulary.

Yes, it is fine because you can read or write something in a few minutes - you don´t have to spend much time and it is useful.

  • At the theatre
The play was called The sister Angelika. The music was written by Pucinni. It was beautiful but the story is very very strong. I was crying from its first half...
The story is about a nun (sister) who was in the convent because she gave birth to a n elligitimate son. After 7 years she has got the first visit of her relatives - her ount who tells her that her baby is death for two years...
Music is very strong and sensitive but I wont be able to see it again.
Last time I saw Manon Lescaut - it was written by Pucinni as well and I liked it too.
My favourite composer is G. Verdi. And what about you? Do you like opera and who is your favourite composer?

I haven´t seen many operas either. But I remember, when I was about 20, I saw some operas by Giuseppe Verdi and I really liked them. And I cann not forget W. A. Mozart, I like his music as well. But mainly the movie Amadeus made by Forman, it´s one of the best films, I have ever seen.

  • What are you going to do at the weekend?
I´m going to my parents to Pilsen in the afternoon - with my sons of course. It seems the weather will be good, so we could swim a little in my parent´s swimming pool   - it is as big as a slop... In the evening i´m going to the theatre. An opera is on.
On Saturday we are going to the Plisen ZOO. I hope, boys will like it. My mother is going with us. (I hope I will alive that...)
On Sunday we are going to neigbour village - there is a "magic forest" for children. It is very nice every year because you can meet there several fairy tale-characters.
Hmmm - it will be quiet full weekend...
    And what about you?
